      Development Plans for Kawana Shoppingworld

New cinemas, new undercover parking and new shops are among improvements planned for Kawana Shoppingworld.

As well as adding cinemas, the proposed plans will build on the recently opened casual dining precinct, with more options for dining. It will also feature vastly improved street presences on both Nicklin Way and Point Cartwright Drive, with new landscaping and a significant number of extra car spaces.

The work will lead to more than 200 new retail jobs when complete and significant employment during the construction phase.

      Development Update - July 2017

      Southern Carpark 5A
      - Completion on track for mid-August
      - Will deliver a new multi-deck carpark providing 359 car spaces (includes 251 undercover spaces) and adjoining link bridge to the existing roof top carpark

        Northern Carpark 5B
The next stage of development is due to commence mid-August 2017, comprising of a new multi-deck carpark and entertainment precinct which will provide:
        - 595 car spaces overall (includes 410 undercover car spaces),
        - New 8 screen Cinema complex comprising of GA, Gold Class and VMAX, and
        - Casual dining tenancies and commercial space

The development will be staged to mitigate the loss of car spaces over the development period.

            Development Update - February 2017

Development works on a multideck car park in the Southern Car Park of the Centre (adjacent to Bermagui Crescent and backing onto Arunta Street) commenced on March 1, with completion due in Mid 2017.

The works are the construction of a decked car park on the site of the Southern Car Park, and will mean some changes to traffic conditions within the centre and pedestrian access via Arunta Street.

With a view to works commencing, starting from Wednesday 1st March, the vehicle entry to the centre via Burns Street will be closed for the duration of the Southern Car Park works. Pedestrian access will still be possible.

The current pedestrian access to the rear of the centre, via Arunta Street will also be closed from March 1 for the duration of the works. We would ask residents to ensure they use alternative routes to safely access the centre.

            Community

            Community

Community is everything to us here at Kawana Shoppingworld. Building positive relationships, providing charitable support and enriching our neighbourhood is an important part of what we do. Why do we do it? Because a thriving community is a win for everyone, and at the centre of that community is you.

For our team, it’s about understanding your needs and values so that we can effectively contribute to the local area. Throughout the year we support a number of community groups and sporting clubs, sponsor local events and festivals and get involved with local council initiatives. That’s in addition to the community service programs, like our Mums & Co program and Nappy Collective, and charitable pop ups and activations we offer in centre. Through our Mums & Co initiative we support Mummy's Wish, a national charity supporting mums living with cancer.

At a national level, Mirvac know that what supports our society as a whole improves the places they create. Investment in activities that enhance health and wellbeing within communities, as well as strengthen social inclusion, demonstrates a real and long-term commitment, both within and beyond the centre doors. Employment initiatives, cultural installations and volunteering programs are just some of the ways in which Mirvac makes a difference along with support for its national charity partner – The Smith Family. Locally, Kawana Shoppingworld is a proud ongoing supporter of the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge.

There’s always more we can do. We invite you to help shape our community by submitting your idea or cause for consideration or by making a community booking to fundraise or generate awareness in our centre. To make a community booking, please complete the below form or if you would like us to support your charity, club or group in any other way, please contact us at Centre Management on 5444 1944 or email us at info@kawanashoppingworld.com.au. We’re wholehearted about helping to make our community great. Being part of that community comes down to you.
